Actually, you've had since Dec 21st to cash in your CC shards. That's ten days.

Last year, the cc shard collector didn't become available until Dec 31st. He was only available for a week after that because of Wintersday being extended for the Asian players. If all had been normal, he would have been available for one whole day last year.

I guess that most some people have been given so much by Anet, that they're now expecting everything to be told beforehand and nothing to be discovered anymore.

Ok first point.. Gaile said she didn't know, then goes on to say The Team, and we... implying in the community that they (Gaile) did know.

Second point, the difference between the polar bear and the Ghostly Hero, Mini Mallyx is that you can attempt to get those rare drops 365 days of the year.

Fact is Gaile denied the polar bear when it was discovered...then the day before the events end says opps my bad. Making those that were discovered instant super money makers. And if that doesn't screw the in game economy up, what does?

Neither of which are fair or plausible. Simply because, Wintersday is a festival that runs from Christmas to the New Year, not a week after New Years. No one can give a non-money motivated reason as to why they want to keep Wintersday around, because, frankly, after 2 weeks, no one loves the decorations or the annoying people selling orr emblems, or charr carvings by the thousands.

/agree 100% I had 2 stacks of CC shards I had to hold from last year's Wintersday. If I can do it, you can too!

Since when do we have to have so much confirmation to go and farm something. You guys seem to need more proof than my university professors before you will believe something. This is a game. I thought the surprise of a new polar bear mini was actually kind of nice. They slipped something past us. GG Anet.

For me it's not about greed. I want the mini for my girlfriend because it looks nice; I know she'll keep it no matter what the cost. 500g or 500e, either way it's a mini she'll keep because it's very adorable. It's that way with any mini I like, and i know it is for her; I can quite honestly say I'd rather have mini rurik than mini kanaxaii simply because I prefer the looks of rurik mini. so please don't always assume it's a matter of greed, as for many it's a matter of enjoyment of certain miniatures. Gaile has posted herself before that marketability of miniatures is secondary to player enjoyment of them.

Notice to ANET: In the future do not put into the game anything that is not announced several weeks ahead of time. Doing things like that just causes frustration from the masses and causes uneeded congestion on the fansite forums.

But, thanks for the effort to make something 'special' if only for a few adventurous souls.

I really could care less if they extend the festival or if they ever have another one. I quit!

But I will point out flaws in the game that I have seen, and the issue of monster lag, and the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO you from the developers and Gaile are flaws, so hell yes I'm going to point out the flawed defense of them.

Regardless it still is a festival item no matter how you look at it.

And since its so rare I would say its one lucky prize to get.

And if ya really want to be picky you can look at chests as being an object that hands out prizes for beating the mission since it just isnt a drop from a random creature but a chest that you only get for beating the mission.

Seems like a reward/prize to me,

Rule one of an argument... don't shoot yourself in the foot....

The minipet was not awarded as part of the festival itself, therefore not a festival prize. you say so yourself. Were any other chest drops awarded during the festival?

Granted the quest does appear with the wintersday event, but the chest spawns upon completion of the dungeon with the quest active, not as a result of you being in a district that the event is taking place or in a district that the quest is turned in as a reward, thus not falling into the "festival prize" category.

Heart of the shiverpeaks is similar in which there are 2 different versions of it. One thats part of the main quest and one that is just a dungeon. The same can be said for the snowman dungeon. 1 version is different if you went in with this quest active, the other version is the normal version. So your chest spawns at the completion of the dungeon objective, the same as any other dungeon would.

Cept like I said, I started after the offer ended. No advance warning, just NPCs that I walk past all the time that mean nothing to me, i at least farmed strength of snow for several hours last nite, about my usual amount of time to farm something before I get tired of it and move on.

I mostly chimed in on that note cuz of the "tough crap, wait til next year" guy....I can actually just get over stuff like the bear and the BMP and move on, until somebody comes across with that kind of jive.
